For the Birds

Our kids will have plenty to throw in our faces when they're adults, I'm sure. But they're never going to be able to claim we never took them anywhere. Every weekend we're flitting here and there, a park in the morning, or maybe the beach, or a friend's birthday party at the indoor play center.

This place is a totally random Audobon Center smack in the middle of low-income Hispanic territory in East L.A. (a.k.a. our neighborhood).

It's adorable--you can rent kid-sized binoculars for bird-watching, do mini hikes, and there's a great children's play area for exploring.

Riis decided PVC piping was better than any stupid ol' binoculars.

The lure of a cave. Cole was sad when there were no bats.

I never tire of watching them play together.

One of my favorite things about Josh is that he's not really a "sit on the bench and watch" kind of dad.
