We drove to Yosemite.
Six hours.
Then 24 hours later, we drove six hours back home because heavy rain was approaching and temps were going to drop into the low 40s.
That's an obscene amount of car time for anyone under the age of 10.
BUT!
It was worth it.
Mostly.
No, it was.
But Cole was having a bit of an attitude issue throughout. You can see here, he's complaining that he needs a snack asap when we got to the campground.

"Mom, I'm not trying to complain, but..."

Indy was more interested in eating sticks than listening to his problems.

She needed a bath about 14 seconds after we arrived.
Look what was a 3 minute stroll from our campground. Seriously cool. The roar of the water was insanely loud even from where we were staying.

Then the obligatory campfire. And the only person Riis burned with a stick was herself! Hooray!
Next day's hike started at the Yosemite graveyard. Riis, um, felt a connection to one of the gravestones.
Off to the waterfall...

Mr. Crabbypants returned in the form of myriad sullen faces and moans of "this is boring." Good times!
Riis wasn't deterred. She loved the hike and scrambled up everything she could.
Everyone was impressed by this, though.

Sisters, aww.
