Kind of a Lemon

That damn cookbook is taking over our lives. Cole got excited about a recipe for lemonade last week ("I like lemonade! I like that") so Josh promised him they could make a batch with the lemons from our trees in the backyard.

First up, the harvest:

He likes to stand on a chair when there's cooking going on. (This recipe was totally bizarre, and involved a simple syrup, which...it's LEMONADE. For kids. Maybe just do the sugar/water/lemon combo, yes? That bugged me for some reason. Sesame Street goes with a version that requires stove use. Weird.)



Then the lemons had to be sliced. Things sort of went off the rail here, because Josh had the right number of lemons, but Cole's little hands didn't really squeeze them completely, so the resulting beverage was more like slightly tangy sugar water. Good thing he's only three and didn't know the difference!




And..I forgot to take a picture of him drinking the final product, so this totally unrelated shot of him painted up like a dog is going to have to do.
